A new tooling of an Austin 4x2 Tilly a Bedford MWD Truck with an MWC option and a BSA M20 Motorcycle used commonly by the RAF as softskins The Austin Light Utility Truck or Tilly was a light army vehicle based on the civilian Austin 10 with a rear loading area added in place of the passenger compartment Tens of thousands of these converted vehicles served during WWII with the Army Navy and Royal Airforce The Bedford MWD was developed for the British Army in the mid 1930s and used mainly off the shelf components Following trials it was improved with a bigger 3 519cc engine producing 72bhp Despite it lacking four wheel drive its low centre of gravity light weight and short wheelbase gave it excellent acceleration and performance Between 1939 and 1945 over 66 000 were produced modified for a number of different roles the MWD being the standard cargo vehicle as well as the MWT Artillery Tractor MWC Water Tanker MWR Radio Truck and MWV Radio Van The BSA M20 motorcycle was built between 1937 and 1955 with 126 000 in active service in WWII It was initially made from standard civilian parts with military fittings and was nearly rejected due to unacceptable engine wear However it s reliability and ease of maintenance helped it to survive and thrive Whether for wargaming for a diorama or just building for display this brand new kit is a beauty Not to be missed The Lancaster is not included Bedford MWD
